Petal's Story

By popular demand - well a demand from Petal herself and her numerous fans, it's time to tell Petal's story with us so far.

We first met Petal with a member of staff from Battersea Cats and Dogs Home. To say she was in a sorry state would be the understatement of the year. Think hot, wet dog then times it by a lot, and that would be Petal. She was an interesting shade of pink and grey with fury ears and very little else where.
After meeting her ladyship it was apparent to everyone that she needed to come and live in a flower shop - she had been given her name by Battersea when she first arrived. So four weeks later she made the journey from London to Petworth, and the challenging road to full recovery.

Armed with tubs of eight hour recovery cream from Elizabeth Arden, shampoo from Paul Mitchell and buckets of love and patience, it wasn't long before Petal started to improve. Moving into the office by day, she began the job of bossing the staff around, showing them on a regular basis where her toys were kept, and where her treats are hidden.
She loves watching TV, especially Crufts, One Man and his Dog, Spring Watch and other programmes with noisy animals.

So here she is now, nearly three years later, loving life. Walking to work every morning through Petworth Park. Flirting with Percy. Shouting at small people who come into her shop. Eating sticks. Working on her floristry skills and learning to drive. Not bad for a stray dog from London...

Petal's story has also been published in 'Give a Dog a Home' which raises funds for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

With love and woofs. Petal xoxo
