when an english rose meets a swedish boy

Back on the hottest and longest day this year, we had a wedding.  That's not unusual I hear you say, but this was a floral extravaganza - no less than four arches, marquee pole dripping with flowers and sumptuous rings of summer flowers for the tables.

The wonderful Pippa Mackenzie was the photographer du jour and below are just a few of her wonderful images for you to ooh and aah at.  They are rather gorgeous.

what a handsome pair - "have you got my best side"

Pippa caught in full click

It's very rare for us to see the bride leaving, but it was so special to see Angela with her daddy and two bridesmaids leave for the church in a fabulous horse and coach.  Needless to say both Matthew and I were very emotional - we got through quite a lot of cotton hankies.

Flowers For A Country Wedding

A couple of weeks ago the talented Christine Carrelo photographed one of our weddings at Farbridge near Chichester.

I do miss sweet peas - they are perfect for such little hands, and I loved Jenni's overarm bouquet - perfect for that just gathered from the garden look.

An Intimate Wedding At Goodwood House...

Images supplied by Barrie Downie

Ioanna and Panayiotis' wedding at Goodwood House was beautiful.

The vine leaves in the table displays gave the arrangements just a touch of home.

David Austin Roses

A very romantic wedding at Upwaltham Barns.  Back in February this year, on a day without snow, we did a wedding using David Austin roses.  The scent from the roses is just so romantic.

The images are from Hector Photography blog.  Thank you guys for letting me blog your images.

A Perfect Day...

From a wedding a little earlier this year - the stunning images are by Hector Photography

I just love the last image - such a perfect day.

A Little Bit More....

I have been away for a week to a Summer School.  I would highly recommend this to anyone.  The venue was West Dean and the course was on how to compose a picture using the beast of a camera which I purchased only four weeks ago.  Our brilliant tutor was Jacqui Hurst and her photography is enough to get anyone out of bed at 5 in the morning to snap the sun as it rises.  I am not known as an early riser - but even I was excited about walking through the meadow with the mist rising to get some pictures at dawn.  I will post these later in the week.

But whilst I was away making merry with my Nikon, work continued back at Spriggs Florist. Matthew was in charge of twitter and managed some witty comments on how the week was going.  So a little later than usual I am catching up on our blog.

Once again I made Ellen model the bouquets which were made using the pretty Shanghai phalanopsis orchid.

I love the heart in the centre of the window - it just says it all.

The urn in the ceremony barn at Upwaltham is perfect for summer garden flowers.

Sarah modelled this compact bouquet of all white roses - if Sarah were to get married again I could see her wearing a gown by Alice Temperley and waft about with a bouquet of all roses.

Petal and Clara are requesting a mention in today's blog as they are feeling a little left out.  Clara is back from her sea side residence and enjoying being back in Petworth.  Petal is just happy to have her mummy back home.

Are you listerning to The Archers - we are loving the storyline with Alice and Chris marrying on holiday and Jennifers reaction - priceless.

A Country Wedding At Farbridge...

Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of doing the wedding flowers for Jenni and Jamie at Farbridge, set in the heart of the beautiful Sussex Downs.  Using mainly summer flowers in shades of pink, blue and white with not a rose to be seen, scabious, astrantia, delphiniums, phlox  and agapanthus took centre stage to create beautiful arrangements.

We have had a sneeky preview of the happy couple via the talented photographer Christine Carrelo, who will be sending me some images of Jenni with her bouquet, which was a relaxed over arm trailing bouquet.

More images tomorrow.  Have a lovely evening.
