Gloriosa Rothschildiana meets Goodwood House.....

When a bride-to-be called the shop earlier this year and asked for an art deco style wedding, with a chic bouquet of gloriosa there was only one question I needed to ask.  When can we meet?

Don't get us wrong, we love the loose vintage style and the just picked from the garden, but this is something a bit special.

The bride's bouquet is a mass of the gloriosa, with buttonholes and wrist corsage to match.

The wedding is being held at Goodwood House, where David and Charles and the marvelous team will make sure that Nix and Richard have the most perfect wedding day.

Matthew will be creating an eye catching display to set the tone for the wedding.  More flowers will flow through the house with trails of gloriosa on the tables and in the Yellow Drawing Room.

I hope that the sun does pop out this afternoon so that they can have champagne on the portico.

Tres Chic Trick Or Treat

"from ghoulies and ghosties
and long-leggedy beasties
and things that go bump in the night,"

with spiders, rats and cobwebs in the chandelier,
and carved pumpkins on the table;
we helped set the scene for a special halloween.

I would like my flowers to have that just picked from the meadow look... Part 3

Back in May, when the sun was shinning and the lambs were still playing in the fields, we did a wedding which was photographed by Simon John.

Jo and Nick popped into the shop armed with the most stunning wedding album - I think I said wow on more than one accassion whilst looking through the book.  To say I was blown away is a little bit of an understatement.  Here are just a few of the images that Simon kindly sent to me.

I think we will be using some of images on our new business cards.

a tale of two weddings.....

Zantedeschia Captain Safari, Hypericum A Wild Romance, Dendrobium James Story.

Looking forward to our walk in the park tomorrow - hope the sun will be out.  I need to catch up with The Archers on Radio 4 and pop the hock of bacon into the slow cooker.

Whatever your weekend, I hope it will be a relaxed one.

what's in the shop today

It's a mad time of year for a gorgeous flower shop.  Geoff has just been on a buying trip to The Netherlands to purchase orchids and pansies, hyacinths and paperwhites, white owls and fluffy snowmen.

The farmers market is back in town tomorrow, so if you are visiting the area pop in to Petworth for wonderful organic sausages, fish, cheeses and olives.  Have a coffee outside the shop at The Bay Tree Bakery and don't forget to come and say hello or better still buy some flowers - just for you.

it was just a walk in the park

The last two mornings have been perfect for the long walk to work - I say long, it usually takes about half an hour, but if we meet Percy it can take quite a bit longer.  Percy is the dashing hound with the stick, Petal loves Percy very much.  There is a lot of flirting and chasing and eating things that really should not be eaten.  Whilst the hounds play I can snap away with my little Nikon at the mist rising over the lake or the downs.

Not a bad commute to work.

We did a Wedding Fair at Upwaltham Barns

Last Sunday, Tim and Nicola hosted a wedding fair at Upwaltham Barns.  We filled jugs and bowls with a lovely mixture of berries and roses and flowers from our cellar.  Decorated hurricane vases and bird cages with hydrangeas and Vendela roses and not to forget the gorgeous floral arch.  Do you have a favourite?

It rained, but still lots of people came to chat about their weddings.  We also met the very talented  Donal and Dex from Pollen. Splendid Days with their beautiful china. The wonderful Joanne Scott and her gorgeous Elegant Stationery.  The lovely boys and girls of Hennings Wine Merchants (thanks for the bubbly guys).

Lets keep our fingers crossed for the sun to shine at the next fair at Upwaltham Barns.

Roses Memeory Lane, Sweet Avalanche, Upper Secret & Bubbles

I love the spray rose bubbles - it makes me think of Adsolutely Fabulous with Jane Horrocks - could you ever image Bubbles as a wedding planner.

The flowers are for a photo shoot at a smart hotel.

The new lense has arrived for the Nikon so I have been photographing lots of flowers - Matthew is beginning to tire of me asking him to make pretty things for me to snap - can't think why.

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old.....

Forever Autumn - this is Matthew's favourite song - it says so in the book 'Flower Shops and friends' by Sally Page. Have you seen Sally's books, they are rather lovely and make jolly good presents.

More pictures to follow.

Today, it is not raining.....

It rained yesterday - a lot.
Rosie (the bride) said a special prayer in church, she must have been thrilled to wake this morning to an beautiful sunrise.  Fingers crossed it keeps dry for the day.

The ceremony is to be held at St Mary's in Easebourne with the reception at Upwaltham Barns.  I'll post more pictures soon.

Ellen is back from two weeks holiday and modelling bridal posies for me.

We are back at Upwaltham tomorrow for their first Wedding Fair, so do pop in and have a chat.
