A Country Wedding At Farbridge...

Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of doing the wedding flowers for Jenni and Jamie at Farbridge, set in the heart of the beautiful Sussex Downs.  Using mainly summer flowers in shades of pink, blue and white with not a rose to be seen, scabious, astrantia, delphiniums, phlox  and agapanthus took centre stage to create beautiful arrangements. 

We have had a sneeky preview of the happy couple via the talented photographer Christine Carrelo, who will be sending me some images of Jenni with her bouquet, which was a relaxed over arm trailing bouquet.

Such a pretty church, but I did not have time to take a picture of the church from the outside - we had to be back at the marquee to finish making the table decorations.  I found this picture on their web site with the church covered in snow - any brides fancy getting married here in the winter, please do let me know.

Glorious Gloriosa

Last weekend was quite a busy one for us at Spriggs Florist.  It was Goodwood's Festival of Speed and we had the privilege of providing the flowers for one of our clients gala dinner.

The brief was for something really quite different and with real WOW. So Gloriosa it had to be. No vintage roses here - that's the next event in the middle of August.

We love Gloriosa Rothchildiana.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2010

With the safe arrival of 6,000 stems of various roses, proteas, gloriosa, orchids, herbs, berries and foliages, work could begin on creating the arrangements that were to be delivered to Goodwood on Wednesday.

We will be back in on Monday for the mad clear out - collecting vases before Goodwood returns to the real world.

The Walled Garden...

The garden's at the Walled Garden, Cowdray are stunning, and the perfect back drop for Gemma and Ed's wedding on Friday.  We made clouds of gypsophilia which were hung from the roof of the marquee and the tables were adorned with jars and bottles of summer flowers.  It looked magical.  Gemma had asked Matthew to make her a hand shower of peonies and roses with foliages and seed heads, to look just as if it had been gathered from garden.

There was a wedding at Upwaltham Barns...

A couple of Saturday's ago Tom and Jo say "I do" at Upwaltham Barn.  The sun shone and the gardens were beautiful.  It really is a very lovely place to get married.  I clicked away with my little pocket camera and was quite proud of the pictures that I had taken - that was until I saw the stunning images that Sara Reeve.

First wedding of the weekend.

With the bouquets and table flowers safely delivered we headed back to the shop.  This is when we were reminded that we live in the country - at the bottom of the lane the farmer parked his truck in the middle of the road, jumped out and went to feed his cows.  It was so funny seeing these lovely back and white beasts run across the field for a spot of light lunch.  I couldn't resist taking a picture to show you all - the farmer was very  handsome but he was gone by the time I had found the camera.

I will listen to The Archers tomorrow morning, with white cotton hankie as I am sure I will need it.  Visit the open gardens and partake in afternoon tea.  Then play with the new camera that has just arrived, it's a Nikon you know...
