ranunculus - a study

the ranunculus is one of our favourite spring flowers,
with delicate paper like petals in many shades,
and with a surprisingly long vase life.

Helen of Lilac and Lily has a most beautiful and interesting blog,
and I was so inspired when I can across the images from Krista Keltanen
of pastel shaded ranunculus, that I just could not resist taking some images of the ranunculus
that we had delivered this week.

the images on Helen's blog are exquisite - go see for yourself and you too will be hooked

by the way, Alex has a web site that he is rather proud of

he even has a plant or two from the shop so he has to have taste

a nod to spring on a rainy day

It was back to Goodwood House on Saturday for the wedding of Liz and John.

Liz looked stunning in her Jenny Packham wedding dress.

Pippa Mackenzie was the photographer du jour - I am looking forward to a sneaky peak soon.

The perfume from the freesias and jasmine was heavenly.

Freesia is the name of Liz's dog - she is coming to visit us in a couple of weeks time, I am very much looking forward to meeting her.  Petal is not quite so sure, as she doesn't likes to share the attentions from the Spriggs team.

roses are red and tulips are ....

We had two weddings on Valentines day.

Dorthe carried a posy of Mascotte tulips, tied with a gorgeous ribbon made by her dress maker

the two bridesmaids wore wrist corsages

Dorthe and Ollie married at Goodwood House, ate cake and drank champagne.

Sarah carried a bunch of red passion roses, tied with lace and finished with the cutest cameo brooch

and the bridesmaids carried ivory roses

simply beautiful

Valentine's wedding at Goodwood House

today we had a wedding at Goodwood House

such a special place for a wedding on anyday of the year - but even more romantic on St Valentine's day

the front hall was filled with the most wonderful perfume from the hyacinths

which wafted through to the ceremony room
where we used even more hyacinths

even Venus got to carry a posy of white amaryllis

bowls of tulips, roses and lilac
lilies and even the humble carnation adorned the tables in
the ballroom

and each place setting had a snowdrop

this follows on from the Danish custom to send a
bunch of snowdrops on Valentine's day to your lover

the traditional Danish wedding cake a Kransekage -
it's supposed to have a bottle of wine inside -
sounds like fun to me
