Winter Wonderland at The Walled Garden

6am no snow
7am loads of snow...

we were off to The Walled Garden in Cowdray

its a lovely venue and we were charged with turning the rooms into a winter wonderland - so working with mother nature we frosted twigs and moss, tweaked fairy lights around hurricane vases with snowball shaped candles.

it was magical

back to the shop now to work on more lovely arrangements, amaryllis to plant in large brandy balloon vases,  hyacinths in rustic baskets and even more door wreaths.

On other news - have you listened to The Archers lately, I was almost in tears with Helen's rant to her poor daddy and can't wait for the next kiss with Harry and Fallon.

Have a lovely week, keep warm and safe in the snow.

Winter Wedding Part 1 - with no snow

The first of this weekend's winter weddings was at Ramster, the beautiful 17th century house in Chiddingfold, Surrey.  Having met with Gemma and Richard earlier this summer, it was so exciting to discuss a winter wonderland feel for their wedding, with marshmallow bowls of roses.

So of to Ramster on Friday morning we go, with just the lightest sprinkling of snow on the ground to set the scene.  We weaved our magic with vase and candles, twigs and lights, roses and gypsophilia, moss and mirrors.

Ellen once again played the role of blushing bride and posed with Gemma's bouquet in Matthew's garden.  Mistletoe had just been delivered and it seemed the perfect back drop for the shot - seeing as it is synonymous with love and happiness -

so raise your glasses to Mr & Mrs Baron

- I hope they kissed under our kissing ball.

flowers for a festive dinner

With vases of amaryllis and ilex, spruce and salix, masses of mistletoe tied with big silk bows, the house was dressed for a Christmas party.

Geoff is heading back to The Netherlands next week to do more shopping.  The shop will be overflowing with orchids and gorgeous plants, flowering bulbs and more festive goodies.

Have a lovely weekend - will you be shopping, walking or just taking it a little easier.  It's going to get colder - please keep the fingers crossed for no more snow - well not until the 25th.

how to run a Christmas workshop...

Take 8 lovely ladies,
1 Matthew and 1 Sue,
wire rings,
large bag of moss,
loads of blue spruce,
8 pairs of rubber gloves,
florist scissors or secateurs,
reel wire,
lattes and biscuits
but most importantly a lot of fun, laughter and chatter.

For two mornings now, Matthew has run his Christmas workshops.
Making wreaths and table centres with lovely ladies who have travelled down from town, up from the coast or from the next village.

All have a lot of fun and go home to adorn the front door with their festive creation.  For some it's an annual gathering of friends and others the beginning of their Christmas preparations.

One more workshop is due to be held next Thursday evening, when we will be having a glass of bubbly whilst more door wreaths will be made.  Matthew has threatened to install a squealometer!!

a winter wedding and a special birthday party

Just one wedding this weekend, just as well as we have 3 parties,
one being our 30th  birthday - that's 30 years of Spriggs Florist in Petworth.

Gosh where have the years gone.

late night shopping with a difference

Saturday night was late night shopping in Petworth - we like to make the evening special so we have 'live' windows.

Twenty took first place for their swan lake themed decorations.

We had snow and rain, but this didn't stop hundreds of people enjoying the evening and a lot of fun was had.

I'm sure there will be more pictures from around the town - but here's a look at last year

who would you like to see in a live window and in what style?
let us know and we will see what we can do next year
